Object Design, Inc. is a software vendor whose mission is to increase the productivity of enterprises worldwide by providing high-performance database management systems, development tools, connectivity solutions, services, and support.

Expert Support designed and wrote a tutorial for the ObjectStore for Smalltalk. To do this tutorial, Expert Support worked with Object Design engineers to design a small application to be used throughout the tutorial. Then Expert Support used that application as the basis of the multiple-lesson tutorial.


Objectivity, Inc. (www.objectivity.com) is the leading provider of high-performance database engines that allow for an integrated and more efficient way to use high-volume and/or complex data in sophisticated applications. Project Summary


OOCL (www.oocl.com) is a worldwide container transportation company.

Expert Support provided a variety of technical services. We worked with their technical team to design the object model for their internal container tracking systems. We provided a business analyst to develop use cases to drive the application design. We also provided writers to develop the on-line help and manuals to accompany the applications that were developed.


Openwave, Inc. (www.openwave.com) provides communication aervice providers (CSPs), including wireless and wireline carriers, Internet Service Providers (ISPs), portals, and broadband providers worldwide, with the software and services they need to build boundary-free, multi-network communications services for their subscribers.

pcOrder was a provider of Internet-based electronic commerce solutions that enable the computer industry's suppliers, resellers, and end users to buy and sell computer products online. pcOrder has been reabsorbed into Trilogy Development.


Pensare, Inc. was an eLearning company that used the Internet to create corporate knowledge communities where content from renowned business and academic thought leaders, practical tools, and internal best practices can be shared to solve immediate, critical business problems.


PhorMax Corporation was a startup company developing a portable, digital X-ray product.

Expert Support wrote the product documentation for Phormax's 510(k) submission to the FDA for approval to build CRView. CRView is a computed radiography device capable of digitally scanning phosphor imaging plates and storing the digital images on a computer. The stored images are available to physician and technicians to view, manipulate, and share over a network. The phosphor imaging plates used by this digital radiography device are reusable and replace standard X-ray film and the associated developer chemicals.


PLATINUM technology Inc. (acquired by Computer Associates) is the world's seventh largest independent software vendor, supporting diverse database management systems, operating systems, and proprietary and packaged applications, and helping customers perform business-critical functions, including database and systems management and application lifecycle management. Project Summary


pulseMD was an Internet-based medical transaction service provider offering services that help private practice physicians address the mounting financial struggles in private-practice medicine by enabling them to recover lost revenues, reduce administrative overhead, and increase office efficiency.

Expert Support provided senior programming staff to the engineering team in the areas of database design and development, and systems architecture.

QUALiX Group (www.qualix.com) (forwards to Legato's home page) is a leading developer of reliability software for UNIX and Windows NT applications and servers in distributed computing environments, including high-availability products to ensure that important applications are continuously available, security products to protect against unauthorized access, and storage management products for protecting and quickly restoring data.


Quintus Corporation (www.avaya.com) (now part of Avaya) provides software that helps businesses deliver sales and service and manage customer relationships across a variety of communications channels, including the Internet, e-mail, and telephone, including software for computer telephony integration, Web-based sales and service, and desktop applications for sales and service, consumer relations, and human resources contact centers.

Expert Support provided a variety of support services to help Quintus, at the time a subsidiary of Intergraph, to position themselves for a management buyout. Services included management consulting, software methodology consulting, product training development and delivery, and custom application development. We ceased work with Quintus after they became independent from Intergraph.

Rambus, Inc. (www.rambus.com) develops and licenses scalable bandwidth, chip connection technologies (incorporated onto DRAM chips and the logic devices that control them) that enable semiconductor memory devices and ASICs to keep pace with faster generations of processors and controllers.

Expert Support created FrameMaker templates; edited marketing and technical documents; created graphics, including timing diagrams; created specialized indexes; and converted documents from MS Word to FrameMaker.


Rational Software Corporation (www-306.ibm.com/software/rational/) (acquired by IBM), an e-development company, helped organizations develop and deploy software for e-business, e-infrastructure, and e-devices through a combination of tools, services, and software engineering best practices.


Reasoning Inc. (www.reasoning.com) offers a unique software inspection service that uses source code analysis to overcome the problems that make testing embedded software so difficult. The inspection service can find defects in embedded software without having to execute it.

Expert Support is working with the product development team on the next generation of the software product. Expert Support is writing the functionality specification and the use cases, and working with UI development staff.


Ricoh Silicon Valley, Inc. (www.ricoh-usa.com) creates products that provide cost-effective, electronic filing solutions for the office environment. RSV is a subsidiary of Ricoh.

Expert Support wrote customer and technical documentation for two major releases of Ricoh Silicon Valley's eCabinet product. The eCabinet is a network-based document management system (hardware and software) designed to capture, digitally file, and retrieve documents. Expert Support was responsible for all printed documentation and HTML online help, including an SDK guide and an internal technical guide on how the eCabinet works.


Rockwell Automation, Inc. (www.rockwellautomation.com/) is a world leader in electronic controls and communications, with divisions including avionics, communications, Rockwell Electronic Commerce, and the Rockwell Science Center.

Expert Support ported Rockwell Automation's press auto-imposition expert system from LISP to C++. This system takes potential page layouts for a newspaper and calculate the inks, paper path, and barring necessary to print the proposed layout.
