Principal Engineer and
Senior Technical Writer
Carli earned a Masters
degree in Computer Science: Computer Engineering at Stanford and
then joined the MYCIN project. As a member of the MYCIN team, her
work with interviewing experts and representing their expertise
in software-usable form led Ed Feigenbaum to coin the term, "knowledge
engineer."
Carli was a founder and
early employee of Teknowledge, Inc. In addition to leading custom-application
projects, she was a lead designer of Teknowledge's S.1 and Copernicus
products. She also acted as a mentor and internal consultant to
many of the application projects. At Teknowledge, Carli also developed
and delivered the Knowledge Engineering Methodology course (among
others), which was available commercially to Teknowledge customers
and used within Teknowledge to train its own engineers.
Carli is a co-author
(with Jan Clayton) of the book, "A Practical Guide to Knowledge
Acquisition," published by Addison-Wesley.
At Expert Support, Carli
has focused on helping our customers refine their product specifications.
Carli ensures that the product design is internally consistent and
understandable to the user community. She typically becomes a major
contributor to the product documentation also.
