Director, Document Production
Services and Senior Technical Writer
Marie has worked in the
field of software development since 1982. Her experience includes
management of document production and custom software projects;
documentation and training development; application analysis and
custom software design; and customer support for custom applications.
As Director of Document
Production Services, Marie manages the full-time and
part-time staff of production specialists. Recent projects include managing the delivery
of hard copy and on-line documentation for a suite of sales-related
applications; performing quality assurance for editing, indexing,
and graphics projects; converting hard copy documentation to HTML;
and directing the quality assurance testing and correction of Windows
help and HTML Help projects.
Marie designs Adobe FrameMaker
and MS Word templates for many clients. She has designed templates
for users' guides, reference and API manuals, and tutorials. Marie
also creates and updates client style guides. She works with clients
to develop the conversion procedures to move hard copy documentation
to online help or HTML, and creates WebWorks ePublisher and RoboHelp templates to support the process.
As a Senior Technical
Writer, her projects include writing user documentation for an application that organizations use to collect real-time feedback from all points of customer and employee interaction; online and hardcopy user guides for an application that analyzes a company's application security status across the enterprise; a concepts manual for a Java
application; editing class library documentation for a Java API;
writing a tutorial and users' guide for a Smalltalk database application;
creating web pages for an Internet services provider; and creating
Windows help and HTML Help for various clients.
As a Training Developer,
Marie's projects include editing training course materials and creating
the slide presentation for a graphical application development tool.
She provides customized FrameMaker training to individuals. She
also upgrades Expert Support's FrameMaker training course to the current
version and delivers FrameMaker classes.
Marie is an expert user
of Adobe FrameMaker. She is a skilled user of many desktop publishing
and graphics applications, including Dreamweaver, Fireworks, RoboHTML, and WebWorks ePublisher.
She is proficient on MS Windows, UNIX, and Mac OS platforms.
In her copious spare
time, Marie works on one of her many knitting, cross-stitch, needlepoint, and
quilting UFOs (UnFinished Objects). She also designed and implemented
her personal Web site (www.solarbrations.com) and her family's Web site (www.novicki.org); she acts as webmaster for both sites. Marie blogs about her crafts at Livin' La Needle Loca.
